Cornsilk (Zea Mays)

A medicinal herb with soothing diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and demulcent tonifying properties for the urinary tract. 

Traditionally used for easing urinary tract infections and the symptoms of kidney stones, water retention, and improving skin complexion. 

The use of cornsilk herb originates in Mexico, where maize is considered sacred as 'the mother of life'. The botanical name zea means 'to live' and mays means 'mother'. 

Cornsilk is used in seasonal rituals and spells of abundance, prosperity and good fortune. In Britain, cornsilk is associated with the season of late summer (Lammastide), when corn is brought in from the fields.
